SUMMER QIGONG SESSHIN WITH KAREN TERZANO & ROBERT ROSENBAUM AT LAMMI RETREAT CENTRE
This summer, Ordinary Mind Zendo Finland is again offering a seven day retreat (sesshin) with our teacher Karen Terzano and a visiting teacher Robert Rosenbaum, who is joining us for the second time.
Continuous Practice, Body and Mind - Sitting meditation (zazen) and moving meditation (qigong) fit like a box and its lid. When we rest in the stillness at the heart of movement and draw on the energy at the center of tranquility, practice blossoms.
During this sesshin we will complement zazen with some of the movements, warm-up exercises, and acupressure self-massage of Dayan (Wild Goose) Qigong. This ancient Taoist form was developed by a Buddhist monk to sustain health and deepen meditation so it permeates Zen flesh and Zen bones. We will also study Dogen’s essay “Everyday Activity”to help us find realization in everything we do.
Teachers:
Karen Terzano is an American Zen Buddhist teacher in the Ordinary Mind School tradition, founded by Charlotte Joko Beck (1917-2011). Karen has worked as a research psychologist and university professor while maintaining an active psychotherapy practice. In 2012 Karen established Ordinary Mind Zendo in Finland and serves as our guiding teacher.
This sesshin's visiting teacher Robert Meikyo Rosenbaum, Ph.D., worked thirty years as a neuropsychologist, psychotherapist, and behavioral medicine specialist before retiring to devote all his time to the practice of Zen and Qigong. He has received lay entrustment in Zen from Sojun Mel Weitsman of Berkeley Zen Center and been authorized as a senior teacher of Dayan (“Wild Goose”) Qigong in the lineage of Yang Meijun by Master Hui Liu of the Wen Wu School.
Participation:
Sesshin starts on Saturday evening at 18.00, and ends on the next Saturday afternoon.
Part-time participation is also possible. In that case we recommend arriving on Tuesday the 24th, when another introduction to qigong acupressure points and basic form will be held (at 19.00).
However, one can also join on other days if Saturday or Tuesday are not possible.
Also, for those who are interested, Robert will offer a qigong refresher on Saturday afternoon at 14.00, and again on Saturday afternoon after the sesshin has ended. So if you have been practicing qigong since last year, or can only come part-time now, this will be a good opportunity to do the whole form again.
Sesshin registration is now closed, as it's fully booked.
